The initiative aims to “build, step by step, the energy autonomy” of the educational center against a backdrop marked by the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States over six decades ago and an energy blockade by the same country against the island.
Donations will come with rewards such as a digital book published by the school’s publishing house, participation in an online workshop, and five entries for a raffle to win an in-person workshop.
According to the announcement, the first phase of achieving energy autonomy at the EICTV will focus on the post-production area, “where stories take their final form.”
The campaign notes that funds from this initial initiative will be used to install portable power stations—featuring solar panels and batteries—designed to safeguard this workflow, which is crucial for completing audiovisual projects.
The second phase focuses on classrooms and teaching areas, aiming to “ensure that classes do not stop or suffer due to power outages,” alongside the goal of guaranteeing electrical autonomy for faculty and administrative offices.
