In a statement that Prensa Latina reached, the organization reported that Samuel Parker—Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Threat Finance and Sanctions Division within the US State Department’s Bureau of Economic Affairs—is currently in Panama as part of these actions.

According to the Amcrp, the US official publicly announced plans to meet with Panamanian authorities to discuss Washington’s sanctions, which target—in his words—those who provide support to the government of the largest of the Antilles.

The group considers the visit to go beyond the diplomatic realm, constituting an attempt to extend the unilateral coercive measures applied against the island to other countries.

It also rejected the recent sanctions, noting that they seek to intensify the economic siege on Cuba and exacerbate the hardships faced by families.

The association asserted that these policies directly harm the population—particularly children, the elderly, and other vulnerable sectors—while reiterating that they will fail to break the resistance and dignity of the Cuban people.

The Amcrp also urged the Panamanian government not to yield to external pressure and to uphold its sovereignty by preventing national territory from being used to advance actions aimed at reinforcing the blockade against Cuba.

The Cuban diaspora demanded the immediate lifting of this hostile policy and an end to the recent measures, which is a crime against humanity.
