During the exchange, Shava and Perez Mesa reaffirmed their historic commitment and determination to maintain and strengthen cooperation in various areas related to university education and research.
They specifically discussed impactful collaboration in biotechnology, health, and professional training in Zimbabwe—particularly at Bindura University, considered the cradle of such ties between the two nations.
In the presence of representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, and the boards of companies and institutions involved in ongoing projects with Cuba, the parties reviewed the status of joint initiatives and advocated for improved results in several of them.
The Ambassador also provided an update on the situation in Cuba, resulting from the inhumane blockade and the hostile policy of the United States government, which includes new measures aimed at economic and energy strangulation.
At the same time, she acknowledged Zimbabwe’s long-standing support in denouncing the blockade as an illegal act that violates international law and the United Nations Charter.
For his part, Minister Shava praised the resilience and example set by the Cuban people in the face of continuous threats and unjustified actions by the U.S. government, while reiterating his country’s support for the sister Caribbean nation.
