China rejects US accusations of alleged election interference

Beijing, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) China rejected accusations by US President Donald Trump regarding alleged interference by Beijing in the 2020 US presidential election, describing them as baseless.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that the US side’s remarks are “completely unfounded” and constitute “malicious slander.”

The spokesperson noted that such claims had already been debunked and reiterated that China upholds the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

Lin emphasized that Beijing has no interest in US elections and has never interfered in them.

Instead, the spokesperson questioned US practices regarding international interference and global surveillance.

He pointed out that the international community is well aware of who frequently interferes in the internal affairs of other countries, subjects governments, companies, and citizens to surveillance, and conducts massive data-gathering operations abroad.

Lin urged Washington to reflect on its conduct, cease baseless accusations against China, and avoid using the Asian nation as a topic of debate in the US electoral process.

The spokesperson added that the United States should adopt measures that contribute to the stable development of bilateral relations.
