KCNA informed that the delegation was headed by Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The delegation traveled to the DPRK to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between the two countries.

During the meeting, Wang conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Kim responded with gratitude and a reciprocal message.

Kim, who is also the President of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, noted that the visit was an expression of Beijing’s willingness to strengthen bilateral relations and implement the agreements reached at the Pyongyang summit.

Kim underscored the strategic importance of the 1961 treaty, which he described as a pillar for safeguarding common interests and regional stability.
