Cuba accuses US of deliberately protecting terrorists

Havana, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced the protection afforded in the United States to individuals who finance, organize, instigate, and train for terrorist acts against the Caribbean nation.

Writing on Facebook, the foreign minister noted that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio—organizer of a ministerial meeting against alleged left-wing terrorism—deliberately ignores the protection terrorists receive on U.S. soil.

This protection occurs “fundamentally in the state of Florida—coincidentally, where he himself comes from,” the island’s foreign minister pointed out.

Rodríguez recalled that these groups—protected by the U.S. government within its territory and by politicians like Rubio—have killed 3,478 Cubans and left 2,099 others disabled.

Furthermore, he argued, they orchestrated more than 600 assassination attempts against the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, including operations involving the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

In the same post, he questioned the U.S. government’s failure to dismantle terrorist networks based in the country, despite information shared by Cuba with U.S. law enforcement agencies.

“How was it possible for a terrorist squad, armed with military-grade weaponry and powerful explosives, to prepare, train, and set sail for Cuba just a few months ago with total freedom?” Rodríguez asked.

“Who are the real terrorists?” declared the Caribbean nation’s top diplomat.
