The ministry pointed out that the incident affected one of the plant’s components and prompted preventative measures, including the shutdown of several generating units.

According to the ministry, these actions aim to ensure the safety of personnel and the plant, as well as preserve the stability of the national power grid.

Emergency teams are working alongside the General Fire Department and other relevant authorities to control the fire.

The ministry stated that it immediately activated all operational and contingency plans to ensure the continuity of electricity and water services and minimize any potential disruptions.

It also affirmed that it is maintaining 24-hour technical and operational monitoring. Authorities urged citizens and residents to reduce electricity consumption to ease pressure on the grid and facilitate repairs and the restoration of operational capacity.

The previous day, the same Ministry reported that another power plant and desalination plant were hit by an attack attributed to Iran, which caused a fire and damaged numerous generators.
