Petro will deliver his final public address as a head of State in Ciudad Bolivar, in southwestern Bogota, where the traditional military parade commemorating the national holiday will also take place.
Officials stated that the march will begin outside the Gran Plaza El Ensueno Shopping Mall and proceed along Ciudad de Villavicencio Avenue until 23C Road, near the Casa Linda neighborhood fire station.
The president has been urging the public for several days to use the day to defend his administration’s legacy.
Petro wrote on his X profile, “July 20 marks the second cry of national independence. I invite all citizens to gather in public squares nationwide to defend the social reforms that benefit the people. Colombia with dignity and for life.”
