Argentine unions join retirees’ March for Dignity

Buenos Aires, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Argentina's leading labor federations will join the retirees' March for Dignity to Congress on Wednesday to protest against the policies of the administration of President Javier Milei.

This is the first union action against the government agreed upon by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the two Central Workers of Argentina (CTA), and the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP) as part of a plan of action for labor rights, better wages, and against layoffs.

This time, they will march alongside retirees who are returning to Congress to demand, as they do every Wednesday, better pensions, the reinstatement of medications that have been cut, and improved medical care.

As the leading union organization of the Autonomous Central Workers of Argentina (CTA-A), the Argentine State Workers’ Association (ATE) will also be present at the protest, bringing its National Retirees’ Center along with hundreds of members of its several unions.

Under the slogan “Social security is a right: we march alongside retirees,” participants in the demonstration will gather at the intersection of Rivadavia Avenue and Rodriguez Peña Street, near Congress Square.
