Cuba rejects US accusations regarding alleged subversion

Havana, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuba strongly rejected a US State Department report alleging subversive influence by the Caribbean nation against the United States, describing it as propaganda intended to justify further acts of aggression.

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that the document seeks to uphold the “mendacious” notion that Cuba poses a threat to the United States and to manufacture consensus for potential military aggression.

The Foreign Ministry deemed it hypocritical for Washington to accuse Havana of promoting subversive actions while annually allocating tens of millions of dollars to attempt to destabilize Cuba’s internal order, cause hunger and desperation, and bring about the overthrow of the government.

It also remembered the US government’s history of interference and violations of international law, accusing it of intervening in the electoral processes of sovereign states, sponsoring acts of genocide, and attacking independent nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also rejected Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, stating that the United States has presented neither evidence nor indications to substantiate the accusation.

On the contrary, it noted, individuals who finance, organize, and instigate violent and terrorist acts against Cuba have found protection and impunity within US territory.

The statement further challenged the US government and its Secretary of State’s promotion of the concept of “left-wing terrorism,” arguing that it aims to create a new enemy in order to persecute progressive expressions, social commitments, and left-wing movements.

Cuba affirmed that it will continue to foster friendly relations with the American people and institutions, in strict adherence to international law, the United Nations Charter, and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
