“Elections, yes—but elections on our own terms,” the leader emphasized during her daily address via “Citizen Power” media outlets, rejecting a return to electoral processes that—as she recalled—were designed, directed, and conditioned by the United States.
The co-president affirmed that Nicaragua is a dignified country and a people of God—glorious, blessed, and heroic—who will not allow elections “against the people” to happen again.
Murillo reported that consultations are already underway among the relevant institutions to draft the documents, analyses, and proposals aimed at strengthening the constitutional and institutional foundations of the Nicaraguan State.
She explained that the National Assembly and the Supreme Electoral Council are working on preparing plans and consultations, with the goal of presenting—within a reasonable timeframe—the proposal requested by the President and Head of State, Daniel Ortega.
The objective, she noted, is to consolidate peace, security, stability, and the continued fight against poverty—which she defined as ensuring the well-being of Nicaraguan families.
She also highlighted statements made by the President of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras, regarding the need for future constitutional and electoral reforms to guarantee processes decided by Nicaragua itself, rather than by foreign powers.
