Russian and US heads of diplomacy meet in Manila

Moscow, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US State Secretary Marco Rubio met in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, the Russian Foreign Ministry informed.

The 35-minute meeting between the two heads of diplomacy took place alongside the events of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), currently being held in Manila, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.

This meeting, held at the Philippine International Conference Center, was the 4th between Lavrov and Rubio. The previous one took place in New York in September 2025.

Lavrov expressed confidence that the event would be productive and said he would ask Rubio about the current US position on resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

Meanwhile, Rubio had previously announced the possibility of negotiations with Lavrov in the context of the ASEAN summit in the Philippines.

Two groups of journalists, one from Russia and the other from the United States, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore, and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker, participated in the meeting.
