Angry Islamic condemnation of Israeli desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque

Cairo, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) Anger continues to reverberate across Arab Muslim nations, as well as countries in Europe and Asia, over the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by a mob of Israelis living in illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The signatories—Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkiye, Indonesia, and Pakistan—condemned what they described as “the latest escalation against Al-Aqsa,” one of Islam’s three holiest sites, alongside the Saudi cities of Mecca and Medina.

The intruders stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem, performed Jewish rituals, and raised their national flag; meanwhile, occupation police arrested the Mufti for confronting the intruders, who were led by Israeli ministers and parliamentarians.

The joint statement emphasizes that this action violates international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the *status quo* governing Muslim and Christian holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

The text also condemns “the installation of two occupation police posts within the complex and other inflammatory actions.”

The aggression takes place amidst a climate of confrontation between the Palestinian population and occupation forces, following an incident in which a resident of an illegal West Bank settlement shot and killed four Palestinians and wounded four others in the town of Tell, northwest of Nablus.

The mass killing was followed by a raid by Israeli soldiers, who looted residents’ homes and subsequently demolished them.
