Through social network X, the Cuban Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country’s position to continue supporting the cooperation purposes that the AEC promotes, as well as “solutions to the problems we face in the countries that we all live in the Caribbean Sea.”
The AEC was constituted on July 24, 1994 in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) and became operational on August 17 of the following year at the first summit of heads of state and government, based in Trinidad and Tobago.
It is an organization for consultation, cooperation and concerted action, focuses on trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters; interested in the preservation of its geographical area.
Last June, during the 31st meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), which met in Panama, Cuba denounced the US blockade and condemned that its country is targeted by the reinforcement of Washington’s hostile policy, the energy fence and the frequent and systematic threat of military aggression.
