During the event, attendees highlighted the special significance of this year’s anniversary as it coincides with the centenary of the birth of historic leader of the revolution , Fidel Castro.
Cubans there remembered that the actions of July 26, 1953 marked the beginning of the revolutionary struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and laid the foundations of the political and social project consolidated after the triumph of the Revolution in 1959.
The attendees also noted that the ideals arising from that feat are reflected in the defense of national sovereignty and in the priority given by the country to health, education and equal rights.
These Cubans highlighted the complex international and national scene due to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, a policy that has been tightened with new sanctions and pressure measures.
They also maintained that the rebellious spirit of Moncada and the thought of Fidel Castro continue as references to face current challenges and preserve national independence.
