New healthcare center in Huila strengthens Angola-Cuba cooperation

Luanda, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) The opening of a new healthcare center in the city of Lubango, Huila province, strengthens cooperation between Cuba and Angola for the benefit of the population.

The health institution, inaugurated in the presence of Cuba’s Ambassador to this nation, Oscar Leon, and Huila’s Vice-Governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure Helio Delize Neto de Almeida, has a staff comprised of 80 percent Angolans alongside Cuban healthcare specialists.

At the opening ceremony, which also commemorated Cuba’s National Rebelliousness Day to be celebrated on July 26, Neto de Almeida praised the medical center and highlighted the historic cooperation between the two countries in health, the Cuban Embassy reported on social media.

The vice-governor noted that the Angolan population has benefited from these relations over the years, and underscored the priority the Government gives to the health sector, while also wishing the clinic success.

Dr. Mario A. Enamorado, director of the healthcare center, highlighted the value it will bring to the health of the city’s residents and the surrounding area by joining the healthcare services network, as well as its contribution in terms of new jobs and professional training.

Ambassador Leon remembered, in his remarks, the July 26, 1953, events that propelled the Cuban revolutionary process, and celebrated the 50th anniversary of President Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto’s visit to the Caribbean island, which started on July 22, 1976.
