Solidarity events in Italy for Cuba’s National Rebellion Day

Rome, July 26 (Prensa Latina) Various Italian associations and political movements in solidarity with Cuba are celebrating the island's National Rebellion Day, marking the 73rd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

Among the key events taking place during this day of support for the Cuban people is a mobilization at Rome’s Piazza Santa Prisca, where members of various organizations will gather before marching to the Cuban Embassy in the capital.

In the lead-up to the commemoration, the book *Contra el fascismo* (Against Fascism)—a collection of writings and speeches by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution—was presented during the San Lorenzo Cultural Festival in Rome.

Speakers at the event included academic Luciano Vasapollo (of the *Red de los Comunistas* / Network of Communists) and Igor Camilli (a leader of the *Patria Socialista* / Socialist Homeland party), among others. They highlighted the significance of July 26 in Cuban history and Fidel’s legacy, just days before the August 13th centennial of his birth.

The National Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (ANAIC) also announced the launch of a special commemorative program for this historic date. Airing this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. local time on the *ItaliaxCuba* channel, the program will be broadcast worldwide via YouTube and other digital platforms.

The broadcast will feature live links from other cities also marking the occasion, with appearances by ANAIC President Marco Papacci and his predecessors in the role, Sergio Marinoni and Irma Dioli (joining from Milan), as well as Rocco Sproviero, secretary of the association’s chapter in Turin.

According to a statement by the organizers, these events aim to commemorate the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks on July 26, 1953, and to highlight the significance of those events, which marked the beginning of the final stage of the Cuban people’s struggle for emancipation.
