The document will be released during the opening day of the 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026), which is being held in Rio de Janeiro, the first Latin American host city of the leading global forum dedicated to the response to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
The United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) announced that the report examines the magnitude of the reductions in international funding and its consequences for HIV prevention, community services, key populations, and the sustainability of the global response.
It will also show which countries record increases in new HIV infections over the last year and which are continuing to make progress toward fulfilling the 2030 targets, as well as propose strategies to end AIDS as a public health threat.
UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima will present the report at a press briefing this Monday.
The AIDS 2026 Conference is organized by the International AIDS Society (IAS), with support from the Brazilian Ministry of Health, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the Rio de Janeiro Mayor’s Office, the Brazilian Interdisciplinary AIDS Association (ABIA), and UNAIDS Brazil.
