The presentation of the volume, published by the Italian house Red Star Press, took place at the Cuban Embassy in Rome as part of the activities marking the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s birth, which will be celebrated on August 13.
At the gathering, Head of Mission Jorge Luis Cepero, Italian lawmakers, academic Luciano Vasapollo, and representatives from solidarity groups and the Cuban community in Italy highlighted the value of the text. In his remarks, the Cuban ambassador expressed appreciation for the publication of the Italian-language edition of the book *Fidel Castro Ruz: Against Fascism*—a work “highly relevant in current times,” as “the danger of a resurgence of fascism looms over the world, led by the genocidal and criminal government of the United States.”
He described it as “a movement attempting to cancel the Left and the ideology of social justice, seeking to present the world with a single line of thought based on supremacy, racism, the theft of nations’ natural resources, and a disregard for international law.”
In today’s world, where some seek to erase the memory of two world wars and glorify fascism, Cuba stands firm; “we will not let Fidel’s ideas and legacy die,” the diplomat emphasized.
Carotenuto stated, “We are witnessing a world where decisions are made by fewer and fewer people, as wealth and power are concentrated in the hands of a few—something we cannot accept.”
He added, “I believe Cuba is precisely the symbol of resistance against all this,” affirming: “We are ready to do everything—absolutely everything—within every institution to support the Cuban people.”
