Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed at the high-level meeting that the initiative has evolved from a Beijing proposal to an international consensus and a framework for cooperation with practical results.
Wang noted that the mechanism seeks to address current global development challenges and contribute to rebuilding the international development agenda.
The foreign minister noted that Xi Jinping launched the initiative in 2021 during the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), aimed at boosting a development-centric vision and providing solutions from China.
The diplomat noted that during the last five years, Beijing has promoted high-level talks on global development and established the Business Platform for Global Shared Development.
Wang indicated that more than 130 countries and international organizations are participating in cooperation related to the initiative.
Nearly 100 countries and international and regional organizations have signed cooperation agreements with China within this framework.
