A statement from the FEUU commemorates the 73rd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks on July 26, 1953, led by Fidel Castro—an event described as a dawn that awakened the consciousness of the Cuban people.
It was a historic feat that forever marked the history of “Our America,” the text states, noting that tribute is paid to Fidel Castro today as the centenary of his birth is commemorated.
“We celebrate the rebellion, courage, and profound solidarity of the Cuban people in the face of constant aggression from the imperialism that seeks to subjugate our continent,” the statement continues.
The FEUU expressed its rejection of “the criminal offense and atrocious blockade by the United States, which threatens the lives of the Cuban people.”
“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the legitimate right of peoples to self-determination, and we wholeheartedly reciprocate the infinite, historic solidarity that Cuba has always shown toward Uruguay and humanity,” it concludes.
