In light of this situation, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) provisionally suspended document submission and registration procedures for the 2026-2027 academic cycle for new students—processes that were scheduled to begin.
“They saw this problem, and we trust they will seek the best solution as soon as possible to provide certainty to everyone wishing to enter” the university, the president said.
The head of the executive branch emphasized that the decision on how to resolve this matter rests with UNAM, as it is a highly prestigious, autonomous institution.
In the days leading up to the admission exam—the first of its kind at the university—young people on TikTok circulated alleged methods for cheating on the test without being detected by the artificial intelligence systems designed to prevent such fraud.
After academics and parents noted a spike in correct answers on the exam, Rector Leonardo Lomeli ordered the creation of a technical commission to prepare a report on the factors that might have influenced this performance.
Responding to a question on the matter the following day, Sheinbaum urged prospective students not to cheat and suggested that universities implement mechanisms to prevent issues with this type of exam.
