Furthermore, the vision of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, regarding the significance of science under the principle of “Doctors, not bombs,” dominated discussions at the meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World People’s Assembly (WPA).
Fidel Castro’s legacy in Africa was analyzed and recognized, highlighting that Cuba serves as an example for the continent in terms of solidarity, cooperation, and development.
The inhumane tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Havana under the current administration of US President Donald Trump was also denounced, and the imposition of sanctions on countries was condemned as a criminal act that violates human dignity.
Cuban PhD. of Science and university professor Fidel Antonio Castro Smirnov defended in his address the development of science as a fundamental element for the comprehensive growth of nations, underscoring that knowledge and research must be at the service of humanity.
Under the theme “New World: Africa in Shaping a Shared Future,” the major event, hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), brings together representatives from 54 countries of the continent and international partners.
