Cuba’s National Assembly condemns US genocidal aggression

Havana, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's National People’s Power Assembly condemned the genocidal aggression by the United States government and warned that any attempt at military aggression will be met with firm resistance from the Cuban people.

The statement, presented during the Seventh Ordinary Session, reiterates the strongest rejection of the imperialist attempt to subdue the sovereign will of the Cuban people by force and emphasizes that the commitment to defending the inalienable right to self-determination is “non-negotiable.”

The declaration states that the executive orders of January 29 and May 1 are “concrete examples of the maximum pressure policy, whose philosophy is the collective punishment of an entire people,” and characterizes the threats of military aggression as “an international crime according to the Charter of the United Nations.”

“Should such an irresponsible act materialize, it will encounter the firm and unyielding resistance of the Cuban people, who will not cede an inch of their territory nor the slightest of their sovereign prerogatives,” the document, read by the Vice President of the legislative body, Ana Maria Mari Machado, warns.

The National Assembly denounced that the economic war, reinforced by the energy blockade and secondary sanctions, aims to “provoke a humanitarian crisis, conduct that also constitutes an international crime.”

Its consequences, it adds, are suffered daily by the Cuban people in all facets of life.

The text acknowledges the support of the international community in the debate held on July 7 at the UN and reaffirms what President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated: “Cuba is not a threat to the United States or to any other country on earth.

We are a noble people who save lives where others destroy.”

The declaration calls on parliamentarians from all countries to heed their voices and resolve to prevent US military aggression against Cuba, end the silent and genocidal war being waged against the Cuban people, and defend peace, friendship, and solidarity.
