A statement from the organization highlights the significant participation—in one of these initiatives—of the foundation named after renowned journalist Gianni Mina, as well as the Local Health Authority of the Italian capital (ASL Roma 1), a public institution providing medical care in the city.
Speaking to Prensa Latina, Anaic President Marco Papacci underscored the support provided by the foundation’s president, Loredana Macchietti (Mina’s widow), as well as by ASL Roma 1 Director General Giuseppe Quintavalle and the director of the entity’s Complex Operational Unit (UOC), Silvia Sergio.
Also contributing to this effort were the Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL)—the country’s largest trade union and one of the most important in the region—and MediCuba Europe, a network of associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from over ten European countries that supports Cuba’s healthcare system.
The shipment includes high-value medical and surgical supplies and equipment—such as ventilators, incubators, multiparameter monitors, ultrasound scanners, and optical microscopes—along with equipment for operating rooms and hospital wards, including surgical lights and mechanical cribs, among other items.
Medical materials and surgical products are also being sent to the island to help alleviate the dire situation facing the Cuban people as a result of the criminal blockade imposed by the United States for over six decades—a situation exacerbated by the genocidal measures of the current administration.
The Coordination of Associations of the Lombardy Region and other organizations from the Liguria region participated in organizing the shipment, which included medicines, medical supplies and equipment, as well as bicycles and other items.
