Uruguay opens House of Solidarity with Cuba in Maldonado

Maldonado, Uruguay, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) The House of Solidarity with Cuba opened at the "La Fabrica" sociocultural center in this departmental capital, where the Caribbean nation's National Rebelliousness Day and Fidel Castro's 100th birthday were remembered. It was a day of historical remembrance and reaffirmation of support for the Cuban Revolution, as part of the national campaign of solidarity with the besieged island, in which political and social forces, as well as citizens of this country, converged.

Ignacio Bardesio, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uruguay, spoke about the historical ties that unite the two countries and the shared ideals of their national heroes, Jose Artigas and Jose Marti.

Cuban emigre Yeline Sanchez spoke, emphasizing the significance of the attack on the Moncada Garrison on July 26, 1953, led by Fidel Castro, “to keep alive Jose Marti’s ideas.”

Freddy Gonzalez, Minister Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, denounced the administration of US President Donald Trump for tightening the blockade and fabricating pretexts to continue its policy of stifling the Cuban people.

The profits from La Fabrica are used, on the last Tuesday of each month, to raise funds to support the Cubans’ resistance.
