“We send you a statement reaffirming the right to development as an inalienable human right, supporting Cuba’s initiative at the United Nations and categorically rejecting the blockade and unilateral coercive measures that violate the peoples’ dignity”, assures the text to which Prensa Latina had access.
It argues that this purpose is in keeping with the principles of the UN Charter, the Declaration on the Right to Development and the need to build a world order based on solidarity, sovereign equality and respect for international law.
The document urges to “adhere to this pronouncement, adding its voice to demand: that the Right to Development be recognized and enforceable as an essential pillar of all human rights (…)”.
It also demands the immediate ending of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against the Caribbean nation, as well as the adoption of a binding international pact on the right to development and the abandonment of practices that subordinate the lives of peoples to hegemonic interests.
The statement informs that those who wish to join this call can enter the Drive document and add their full name, that of their organization, collective or initiative and their country or region.
The full document is attached to this communication.
“We all defend that development is not a privilege, but a right of all peoples,” the statement concludes.
