The announcement was made by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who had called to express his solidarity, according to a statement issued by the presidency’s spokesperson in Cairo.
The attack, for which no group has claimed responsibility, resulted only in material damage, according to details provided by official sources. However, official Iranian media and the Yemeni armed movement Ansar Allah denied any involvement in the incident.
The incident shows the growing dangers of regional escalation, the Egyptian leader told his counterpart, urging “coordinated international efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading.”
He also informed Sanchez that Egyptian authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack, while emphasizing “the gravity of the current regional escalation and the need for Egypt, Spain, Europe, and the majority of the international community to work together to contain tensions.”
