Nicaraguan Police reaffirm support for constitutional reform

Managua, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The Nicaraguan National Police reaffirmed its support for the consultation process regarding the constitutional reform and reiterated its commitment to continue guaranteeing peace, public security, and the defense of national sovereignty.

During his address at the consultation session convened by the National Assembly’s Special Constitutional Commission, First Commissioner General Francisco Javier Diaz, head of the police, expressed his gratitude for the invitation to participate in the analysis of the initiative to reform the Constitution.

The police chief stated that it is a great honor for the institution to be part of this process, while also ratifying its commitment to fulfilling the constitutional mission entrusted to it by the people and the laws of Nicaragua.

Diaz assured that the National Police would continue to carry out its duties with firmness, responsibility, and a dedication to service, aiming to guarantee peace, public security, and the tranquility of individuals, families, and communities—essential conditions for the country’s well-being and development.

He also reiterated the institution’s readiness to continue working with loyalty, obedience, discipline, and institutional commitment, acting in strict compliance with the Political Constitution and the directives of the Supreme Command.

The First Commissioner highlighted that the Constitution establishes independence, sovereignty, self-determination, security, and peace as inalienable rights of the Nicaraguan people and as foundations of the nation.

He added that, in accordance with the Constitution, any foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs or any attempt to undermine those rights constitutes a threat to the people; therefore, it is the duty of all Nicaraguans to preserve and defend them.
