Iran accuses US of moving military material thru the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) The Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the United States of using merchant vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz to transport military personnel and equipment.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry asserted that these vessels switch off their identification systems and use the southern route of the strait to carry out such transfers.

The text further noted that US warships escorted oil and gas tankers between June 26 and July 8—a period during which Iran permitted free navigation through that strategic waterway.

Tehran stated that it harbors no hostility toward countries in the region and expressed its willingness to establish friendly relations with the states located on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, based on mutual respect and good neighborliness.

However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry urged countries hosting US bases to prevent their territories from being used to launch attacks against the Islamic Republic.

The statement warned that any facility used to attack Iran would face retaliation, though it clarified that such actions would be directed against US bases rather than the host countries.

These statements came hours after US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of planned attacks on Iran, contingent upon the rapid conclusion of an agreement.
