Iran claims readiness for worst-case scenarios with the US

Tehran, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) Iran reaffirmed its readiness to face worst-case scenarios and warned of the consequences of the continuation of what it termed US aggression against its territory, citizens, and interests.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry asserted that the Armed Forces would continue their defensive and denounced the naval blockade imposed by Washington, as well as attacks on Iranian citizens inside and outside the country, as violations of the United Nations Charter.

The Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran would use all available means to exercise its inherent right to self-defense and accused the UN Security Council of failing to adopt effective measures regarding US and Israeli operations.

It also held Washington responsible for attempting to undermine agreements reached with Iran and maintained that recent statements by US President Donald Trump reveal a premeditated plan to renege on commitments.

According to the ministry, threats to terminate the memorandum of understanding, revoke authorization for Iranian oil sales, and reimpose sanctions violate the Islamic Republic’s sovereign rights, including those concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran rejected the explanations offered by the United States to justify its recent attacks and described the use of incidents involving three vessels on July 8 as a pretext to escalate confrontation as deceptive.

The Foreign Ministry accused Washington and some of its regional allies of exploiting those events to heighten tensions and weaken previously reached understandings.
