During the Workers’ Party national convention in Sao Paulo—which made Lula’s bid for a fourth term official—Janja was invited to speak by the president, who remarked that the voice of a woman could not be absent from such an important event.
At the start of her speech, she greeted the female activists present and highlighted the leading role women are playing in the election campaign. “It is we women who are going to re-elect you,” she said, addressing the head of state.
Janja said that Brazilian women continue to face double and triple workloads, combining paid employment with domestic responsibilities and caring for their families.
Elsewhere in her remarks, she reviewed her work alongside Lula since the start of his third term in January 2023 and reaffirmed her commitment to consolidating the public policies driven by the government.
She also expressed pride in being part of a project that, she noted, fosters national development, combats inequality, and strengthens social inclusion—factors that, in her view, have contributed to Brazil’s international recognition.
Janja also highlighted the president’s support for women’s demands and assured that the fight against gender-based violence holds a priority place on the government’s agenda.
