This gesture of solidarity by SPF primarily involves medical supplies and other donations; the loading operation was carried out in cooperation with the Rotary Press Workers’ Union of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT)—France’s largest trade union—and the association Cuba Si France.

  During a rally held on July 25 at the Champ de Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, CGT leadership announced the preparation of a solidarity shipment designed to overcome the obstacles imposed by Washington’s policy of strangulation.

  At that event, several Cuba friendship associations condemned the U.S. blockade—in place for over 60 years—against the Caribbean nation and denounced the hurdles erected by the White House, which even impede the exercise of basic solidarity.

In addition to maintaining an oil blockade against the island since January, the White House announced punitive measures against foreign companies that continue to trade with Cuba.

  This move prompted several shipping lines that worked with the Caribbean country to announce the suspension of their operations.

  A key principle shared by the organizations supporting the Cuban cause and its Revolution is the rejection of the various forms of aggression practiced by the United States against the island.
