At a two-day meeting in the Indian city of Lucknow, under the presidency of the intergovernmental bloc in New Delhi, participants approved a declaration to this effect after discussions focused on priority areas, including the use of digital platforms for data dissemination.
They also discussed on reforms to national statistical systems to adapt to the evolving data ecosystem, identifying common areas of innovation for potential collaboration among the BRICS countries, and strengthening económico and sectoral statistics.
More than 350 delegates, including representatives from national statistical offices, agreed to documenting and sharing experiences, best practices, and lessons learned on data dissemination to improve the accessibility and use of official statistics through digital channels and other dissemination means.
The BRICS representatives also reaffirmed their commitment to boost statistical cooperation within the bloc, as well as supported the continuation of the Joint Statistical Publication and the Joint Statistical Publication Summary as important instruments for knowledge sharing, transparency, and cooperation among members.
