Sepah News website, linked to the IRGC, quoted an official familiar with the negotiations, who attributed the difficulties in reaching an understanding with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz to US meddling and statements by President Donald Trump.
The source stated, “As long as US meddling and the threat of a military attack on Iran continue, reaching an agreement will be delayed. Iran will not sign any agreement under threats.”
Tehran resumed talks in Muscat to establish mechanisms to guarantee the safe passage of ships through that strategic waterway.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ismail Baghaei, announced on that technical and political progress has been made in consultations with Oman.
Baghaei specified that a final agreement has not yet been reached.
Talks are taking place amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, following the strikes launched by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on February 28.
