Rodriguez stated that the proposal responds to political interests and is not an effective public policy to address the increase in violence in this capital.
“It is an electoral strategy that lacks sufficiently strong indicators of impact or results to speak of efficient public management,” the opposition legislator affirmed, referring to the upcoming November 29 elections to elect local authorities.
President Daniel Noboa announced that 2,000 police officers and 2,000 military personnel have been deployed to Quito to confront the rise in violence in the city.
Data from the National Police stated
that Quito has recorded more than 136 violent deaths so far this year.
