The drive will take place in Popular Agrarian Reform settlements and encampments across Brazil’s five regions under the slogan “Against Imperialism: Youth Fighting for Socialism,” featuring a program that combines political education, mobilization, cultural activities, and acts of international solidarity.
According to the MST, the initiative seeks to revive the legacy of the Cuban leader—born on August 13, 1926—among new generations and to reaffirm the movement’s commitment to defending the sovereignty of peoples against imperialist policies.
“The event seeks to revisit the life of the greatest anti-imperialist of our era and to affirm our commitment to the struggle against today’s empires, linking this to the Land Reform project we champion and to national sovereignty,” stated Fernanda Farias, a member of the national coordination team for the MST youth collective.
The leader explained that the activities also aim to present Popular Agrarian Reform as a vision for the future for Brazilian youth and to strengthen the spirit of internationalism within the movement’s territories.
Planned activities include agitation and propaganda drives, political debates, the drafting of solidarity letters to the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela, tree-planting in honor of Fidel Castro’s centenary, mural painting, and various artistic and cultural expressions.
The MST’s National Agitation and Propaganda Brigade will also spearhead initiatives to engage the public in dialogue, denouncing the impact of United States policies on various peoples and fostering reflection on anti-imperialism and the defense of national sovereignty.
