New shipment of aid departs from Italy for Cuba

Rome, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) A new shipment of aid from Italian solidarity organizations will depart from Rome to Cuba, in response to the grave situation facing the island's people due to the genocidal economic blockade imposed by the United States.

A report published on La Repubblica online newspaper highlights that the members of the third convoy organized by the Let Cuba Breathe campaign, following those conducted in March and April this year, will deliver medicines and medical supplies to Cuba, where they will remain until August 21.

This third trip follows the one in March, on which 120 delegates from 19 European countries participated, transporting nearly five tons of medicines, and a second shipment in April, the final part of an initiative that included a previous tour of nine countries and 12 European cities.

The release published by the said news outlet noted that the solidarity activists traveled nearly 10,000 kilometers, from Turin to Brussels, Barcelona, and Bern, where they organized 13 public events in support of the Cuban people, where the criminal US policy against that Caribbean nation was decried.

The members of the delegation departing for Cuba plan to visit the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Guantanamo, and Havana, where they will deliver medical supplies to healthcare centers.

The donations consist primarily of medical and sanitary equipment, as well as powdered milk for children hospitalized in pediatric wards.

These actions are part of the celebrations for the 100th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, on August 13.
