During a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, the Turkish foreign minister called for a firmer stance from the international community regarding Tel Aviv’s actions.
Fidan urged that the necessary pressure be applied to compel Israel to respect Syrian sovereignty and comply with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement of Forces.
The minister noted that Syria contributed to preserving regional stability during the recent confrontation between the United States, Israel, and Iran, and maintained that ensuring the country’s security is a responsibility shared by all states in the region.
He also denounced the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and argued that these actions show Benjamin Netanyahu’s government’s lack of willingness to achieve peace.
According to Fidan, Israel has also intensified its operations in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The minister highlighted the frequency of contacts between Turkish and Syrian officials to exchange information and coordinate bilateral mechanisms established in recent months.
He stated that Syria is gradually moving toward stability and that cooperation between the two countries is deepening in the political, economic, and security spheres.
