The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) stated that the systems will also be used to provide solar energy to essential service facilities such as healthcare centers and emergency medical clinics, daycare centers, orphanages, and bank branches, among others, aimed at helping to guarantee basic services for the Cuban population.
The handover ceremony took place at MINCEX headquarters, where representatives from both countries highlighted the social impact of this cooperation and the importance of the donation for strengthening the National Electro-energetic Grid (SEN).
Managed by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), the systems have a higher power output than those delivered in last year’s donation, reaching 3.6 kilowatt-hours (kWh), and have doubled their storage capacity to 14.3 kWh, increasing their efficiency and adaptability to the conditions of the Cuban power grid.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Oscar Perez-Oliva expressed his gratitude at the ceremony for the Chinese Government’s continued support of the Cuban energy sector and stressed the significance of this aid in the complex situation the country is facing.
Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, noted that, on the eve of the 100th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, this equipment is a gift from the Chinese people to contribute practically to the well-being of the Cuban population.
