Postponed in February due to the tense power situation in the nation, the fair also moved its venue from the Morro-Cabana Historic Military Park, across Havana Bay, to the Cultural Station on Linea Street and 18th Street in this capital’s Vedado neighborhood, and other nearby institutions.
Delegations from China, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, and Spain will be present at the event, which will feature Russia as the guest of honor.
Russia will showcase a rich cultural offering with a delegation of artists and writers who will present their work to fans of all ages and introduce it to new generations of Cubans eager to discover its literature, traditional music, and cinema.
The program, dedicated to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, includes the launch of titles such as “Fidel, Siempre Abogado” (Fidel, Always a Lawyer), published by the National Organization of Collective Law Firms, and “Fidel Castro ¿Que Se Encontro al Triunfo de la Revolucion?” (Fidel Castro: What Was Found Upon the Triumph of the Revolution?) of the Capitan San Luis publishing house; and the Selected Works of Raul Castro.
As customary, in addition to book launches and sales, the fairgoers will have access to a comprehensive academic program that includes the presentation of the National Prizes for Literature, Social Sciences, and Publishing.
Organized by the Cuban Book Institute (ICL), the Cuban Book Chamber, the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT), the Russian Embassy in Cuba, and other institutions, the book fair will dedicate space to honoring journalist and writer Marilyn Bobes and researcher Jose Bell Lara.
