The operation was conducted by the Internal Security Forces in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate and allowed the arrest of the cell’s alleged leader, Musab Khalil al-Sheikh, known as “Al-Sini.”
The official statement noted that the operation is part of the actions to pursue members of the extremist group and cut off their supply lines.
The detainee was allegedly part of a group linked to Abu Abdul Rahman al-Iraqi, one of the DAESH leaders in the region, who was killed in Daraa Governorate in 2022.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cell carried out logistical and operational tasks, including collecting weapons, transporting explosive devices and their components, and other activities aimed at facilitating the group’s movements in southern Syria.
