Morales also expressed interest in strengthening economic and trade links between the two countries, according to statements made after the meeting held with the head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Liu Haixing.

At the reception held at the headquarters of that political organization in Havana, the Cuban leader extended a warm welcome to Liu Haixing and the members of his country’s delegation participating in the First International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future.”

He also conveyed the warm greetings of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez. During the dialogue, he highlighted the significance of the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the Long March, events that transcend the Asian nation due to their importance for Cuba and for countries building socialism.

The member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) explained that the visit comes at a time of extreme complexity for Cuba, marked by the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States, sanctions against Cuban entities and institutions and officials, as well as energy difficulties.

In this context, he expressed his gratitude for China’s support of the Cuban people, government, and Communist Party, and emphasized that the Party leadership, together with the State and the Government, will continue working to overcome this complex situation, with the solidarity and friendship of sister nations.

For his part, Liu Haixing thanked the host for the invitation and expressed his satisfaction with the visit, which reaffirms the excellent state of relations between the two Communist Parties and their shared interest in advancing the implementation of the agreements reached by the top leaders of Cuba and China, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and Xi Jinping.

The Communist Party of Cuba also reiterated its historic and unwavering support for the One China principle and its opposition to attempts at external interference in the internal affairs of that sister nation.
