Fidel Castro’s mark highlighted amidst complex international arena

Havana, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) The legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution remains a symbol of national independence, sovereignty, and social justice in today's complex context, a theme that emerged during the 1st International Colloquium "Fidel: Legacy and Future."

Vu Hai Ha, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for National Defense, Security, and Foreign Affairs, acknowledged the Commander-in-Chief’s qualities as a revolutionary, statesman, and military strategist during the event’s opening session.

The official stated that Fidel Castro’s leadership served as a source of encouragement for oppressed peoples across Latin America, Africa, and Asia, establishing Cuba as a moral powerhouse of solidarity.

Furthermore, the Cuban leader embodied the unwavering determination to achieve freedom, defend sovereignty in the face of the blockade, and promote social justice through education, healthcare, and social welfare.

Vu Hai Ha, who also chairs the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Group, highlighted that the two nations’ friendship—spanning over six decades—is built on political trust, shared ideals, and mutual support during challenging times.

He also emphasized that his country would always be grateful to the Caribbean island for the solidarity shown during the difficult years of war in the Southeast Asian nation.

Meanwhile, Bounleau Phandanouvong, head of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, described Castro’s role as decisive in Cuba’s social, political, and economic transformations, emphasizing education, healthcare, and human development as pillars of equality and freedom.

He also highlighted Castro’s influence on progressive movements and the struggle against imperialism, as well as his ability to inspire peoples defending their independence and dignity.
