The exact number of citizens, almost all of Moroccan origin, remaining in Ceuta is unknown, except for about 1,500 unaccompanied children.
Meanwhile, a new wave of migrants is being announced on social media for August 15, which would add to the nearly 80,000 people who arrived in that city on July 30.
Jose Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, visited Ceuta this Tuesday to meet with that city’s President Juan Jesus Vivas.
An official statement noted that Albares and Vivas discussed the situation at the border, the city’s needs, and cooperation with Morocco.
The minister conveyed his support to the authorities and residents of Ceuta and Melilla, the security forces and bodies, and the military personnel deployed in both cities.
