At the conference “Cuba and Its Historical Challenge on the Centenary of Fidel Castro’s Birth,” organized with the support of the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies at Delhi University, the Cuban diplomat explained the intensified foreign policy of the current US administration against the Caribbean nation, aimed at overthrowing the democratic government in Havana.

Addressing students and professors, Marsan offered a detailed overview of the history of Cuba’s struggle, from Spanish colonialism to the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, when the Cuban people achieved true independence.

He emphasized the role of Fidel Castro and a group of young people in the revolutionary struggle, who, guided by the humanist and anti-imperialist ideals of Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti, led the people’s battle against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.

Marsan also addressed historical moments such as the 1961 US military invasion of Cuba, the assassination attempts against Fidel Castro, and other terrorist actions organized and carried out by the United States against the Cuban authorities and people.
