This statement was made, in an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, by intellectual, researcher, and university professor Francisca Lopez Civeira, who cherishes memories of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, as a result of her intellectual journey and personal experiences.

Just a few hours before commemorating Fidel’s 100th birthday on August 13, Lopez Civeira, who also won a National Prize for History and for Social Sciences and Humanities, unravels the solidity of the revolutionary project, while testifying to the profound human connection the revolutionary had with the people.

The Cuban academician stated that this last aspect is the key to his greatness and his enduring legacy.

The PhD in Historical Sciences noted that Fidel’s thinking was not a result of improvisation, but rather the result of rigorous and contextualized development, where every action responded to a keen sense of historical timing.

This vision enabled structural transformations that, in a short time, led to the elimination of illiteracy in Cuba, democratizing access to culture, work, and social security, especially in the public sector.

She acknowledges the implementation of a comprehensive project that changed the lives of millions of Cubans, including hers.

As she was the daughter of a worker, the Revolution allowed her to develop her intellectual vocation.

Lopez Civeira documents the past and challenges new generations to keep alive the example of a man whose life and work continue to be an inexhaustible source of reflection for Cuba and the world.
