Lucas Castro, one of the promoters of the “100 Years, 100 Murals for Fidel” campaign, told Prensa Latina, “We are here to remember the legacy of dignity, solidarity, and internationalism of the Commander-in-Chief.”
Members of the Metropolitan Zone of the Movement, several committees, the Popular Propaganda Brigades, the Communist Youth (JJCC), and other organizations attended the event in this capital.
Yanela Garcia, on behalf of the association of parents of graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), thanked Cuba and especially Fidel Castro for training nearly 700 Chilean doctors in that educational center.
That institution, founded in Cuba in 1999 at the initiative of the Commander-in-Chief, has graduated more than 31,200 doctors from 122 countries to date.
A tribute to the revolutionary leader also took place in the port city of Valparaiso to celebrate his 100th birthday.
