China and Cuba stress Fidel Castro’s contributions to friendship

Beijing, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) China and Cuba commemorated on Thursday the 100th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, at the Jintai Art Museum with a floral offering, speeches, and cultural activities.

Ma Hui, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee; Qiu Xiaoqi, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American and Caribbean Affairs; Cuban Ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco Silva; and Yuan Xikun, director of the Jintai Art Museum, laid a floral offering before the sculpture of Fidel.

Children and young people from the Cuban State Mission in this capital presented the play “A Hero Named Fidel” to honor the life and legacy of the Commander-in-Chief.

Blanco Silva affirmed that remembering Fidel also means speaking about Cuba, its contemporary history, and the will of a people to forge their path sovereignly.

The diplomat underscored that the new generations of Cubans have the responsibility to preserve and enrich the values and ideas championed by the revolutionary leader.

The ambassador also noted that the friendship between Cuba and China is entering a new stage of development under the guidance of the highest authorities of both countries.

The program included the screening of the audiovisual “Fidel y la Unica e Indivisible China: Una Amistad Entrañable y Consecuente” (Fidel and the One and Indivisible China: A Deep and Consistent Friendship), a performance by the Spanish-Speaking Friends Choir, and the distribution of copies of a work dedicated to the Cuban leader.
