The Foreign Ministry statement noted that the delegation was led by Vu Hai Ha, a member of the CPV Central Committee and the National Assembly Standing Committee, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee on National Defense, Security, and Foreign Affairs.
According to the text, the group first participated in the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties and in the International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future,” which concludes coinciding with the commemoration of the Cuban leader’s birth centenary.
At the first meeting—attended by some 200 international delegates from 48 communist and workers’ parties—Hai Ha stated that the Cuban Revolution is one of the most brilliant symbols of the global struggle for national independence, sovereignty, and social justice.
Likewise, the Foreign Ministry continued, the official “reaffirmed Vietnam’s solidarity with Cuba in the face of the immense difficulties it is enduring” due to the United States’ growing hostility.
The Party, State, and people of Vietnam always support, share in, and firmly back the just cause of the Cuban people, Hai Ha added.
He also called for unity and the struggle for peace, as well as for an end to the U.S. blockade, which runs counter to international law and the United Nations Charter.
